Copper River Valley – Regional Planning Organization
The Copper River Valley – Regional Planning Organization (CRV-RPO) was established in 2022 as a committee of the Copper Valley Development Association (CVDA) to plan for the region’s future transportation development. It provides an avenue for public participation, considers the region’s transportation needs and development potential, works directly with the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) to identify and advocate for future improvements, and conducts long-range transportation planning.
Next meeting: Wednesday, August 6, 2025 @ 5:30 p.m. in the pilot’s lounge at Gulkana Airport and via Zoom. Contact us for more details.
CRV-RPO will develop two major regional planning documents:
Regional Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)
Regional Transportation Improvement Plan (RTIP)

CRV-RPO was the first RPO in Alaska, established under a DOT&PF pilot program that aims to formalize and strengthen the input from rural regions across the state.
It began developing its first Long-Range Transportation Plan in the spring of 2025 and expects to have a final draft by the end of 2026. CRV-RPO’s first Transportation Improvement Program is expected to follow that effort.

The Copper River Valley Regional Planning Organization (CRV-RPO) assures that no person shall on the grounds of race, color, creed, national origin, sex, disability, age, income, or limited proficiency in English, as provided by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, and the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Title VI Program, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity. CRV-RPO further assures every effort will be made to ensure non-discrimination in its programs and activities, whether those programs and activities are federally funded or not. The Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 broadened the scope of Title VI coverage by expanding the definition of the terms “programs or activities” to include all programs or activities of Federal Aid recipients, sub-recipients, and contractors/consultants, regardless of whether such programs and activities are themselves federally assisted (P.L. 100.259 [S.557] March 22, 1988).
