BACKGROUND
The Glenn Highway was established in 1942 with a 200-foot width. In 1958, Public Land Order 1613 expanded that width to 300 feet, but a series of Public Land Orders issued between 1942 and 1965 delayed the effective date of that expansion in certain areas. As a result, some structures and improvements were built in good faith in what owners believed was private land, but which fell within the outer 50 feet of the expanded highway ROW. Portions of the Richardson Highway corridor are similarly affected.
CVDA is working with DOT&PF to help affected landowners understand their options, including applications to vacate excess ROW, obtain encroachment permits, or otherwise resolve outstanding issues.
